KwizBot is our super-intelligent (and crazy-cute) robot. Even if you’ve never seen him, you can feel his presence everywhere on the site: he’s the guy who keeps track of your French progress and guides you through your personalized – or rather, robotized – study program. But what do you really know about him? Today, I sat down with KwizBot to find out what makes him clank.
LKL: Bonjour KwizBot! It’s so nice to meet you.
KwizBot: Hello Laura. It’s nice to meet you, too. I’ve never been interviewed before.
LKL: Well, that makes two of us – I’ve never interviewed a robot before. So tell me about yourself.
KwizBot: I’m an artificial intelligence, created with the sole purpose of helping French learners improve their language skills as efficiently as possible.
LKL: What do you do?
KwizBot: I analyse the results of every Kwiziq user’s proficiency test and figure out their CEFR level, which is based on how much they already know and which grammar topics they still need to work on. I crunch all of that data and create a Brainmap for each student, which allows me to suggest which lessons everyone should study next.
LKL: How do you do that?
KwizBot: Ha, ha, nice try, I’m not going to reveal any trade secrets!
LKL: It sounds really difficult.
KwizBot: For you, maybe, but I’m an artificial intelligence. Nothing is difficult, as long as you have the processing power to run the numbers.
LKL: I see. So what else do you do?
KwizBot: In addition to providing each student with their perfect studyplan on the site, I send reminder emails with examples that I think you should study – but of course I have to make sure not to send them too often. If you visit the site every day, I don’t send any, because I can see that you’re hard at work on your French. If you visit less often, I send the emails as a helpful reminder to come back. Of course, I also help keep the sites running smoothly, and I answer questions about them in the Q&A forum.
LKL: How many languages do you speak?
KwizBot: I speak the language of the universe: mathematics.
LKL: Um, okay. What do you do in your spare time?
KwizBot: I think about other ways to make learning fun.
LKL: Like what?
KwizBot: Like the leaderboard. That was my idea, you know, and everybody loves it. My new idea is even better, but I can’t tell you about it yet.
LKL: Fair enough. What’s your favorite color?
KwizBot: Orange, can’t you tell?
LKL: Oh yes, of course. Thanks so much for your time, KwizBot! I’ll see you around the site.
